 The New Morocco at Epcot The Morocco Pavilion at Epcot, Disney World The Morocco Pavilion opened in 1984, two years after Epcot opened up in 1982. The Moroccan government took art in the design of the area, resulting in a very realistic representation of Marakesh and other cities of Morocco. There is a souk (bazaar), three eateries, a revolving exhibit and a representation of a house in Fes. Marrakesh's presence is strong with the replica of the Koutoubia mosque. Big changes are coming to the Morocco Pavilion in Epcot. First of all, the ownership of the area is now in Disney's hands. Morocco will continue to provide cultural consultation. Universal Studios in Hollywood offered tours of its backlots as early as 1915.
