Is it the end of the Magic Bands??




Disney has rolled out extra features on the My Disney Experience App: 


You can set up your app to function like the Magic Band. You can already unlock your Disney resort door with your smartphone. Now, you can scan into the park and connect PhotoPass. With the PhotoPass, the photographer will scan your phone instead of the Magic Band. Also, you can touch the icon under your photo at the end of some rides and attractions, just like you did with the Magic Band. 

Check to see if these new features work with your phone. Also, not everyone has a smartphone, so the bands just might stay around a while longer. Stay tuned!!

1. What are Magic Bands? The Magic Bands, introduced in 2013 and updated in 2015, are waterproof wristbands with a chip using RFID technology inside that can function as your admission ticket, your annual pass, your hotel key and form of payment if you are staying in a Disney resort. Got that? 


If you pre-order, your bands will arrive in the mail, in a discreet package


2. How do I get one? If you book a Disney resort, you can order and pay for one in advance and it will be waiting for you when you check in. If you buy a ticket at the park (or at Disney Springs), you get a plastic card but you can purchase a Magic Band and link the ticket. You can also buy them in the park, in Disney Springs or at the Disney Store at MCO Airport.

3. How do you use them? Simply touch "Mickey to Mickey." In other words, you touch the Mickey icon on the bracelet to the Mickey icon at the ride or cashier. The technology will read who you are and confirm your Lightning Lane reservation or charge your credit card for a purchase. A PIN is required for purchasing.

4. How do I link my information? Your info might be linked by the cast member when you check in if you are staying at a resort. If you buy a band, you can link it through the My Disney Experience app.

5. What else may happen with my Magic Band? Ride through "it's a small world"® and find out. There are limited edition bands that have extra effects when you use them or the band may indicate your status. For example, if you are a Disney Vacation Club member, the indicator on the entry turnstile will turn purple when you enter one of the parks.

6. What happens if I lose it or it doesn't work anymore? The battery inside supposedly lasts for at least two years. My first one was still working after 4 years. You can go online and deactivate any Magic Band in your account. After that, either recycle it, save it as a souvenir or look at Pinterest for the creative ways people have used their bands making crafts.

 The New Morocco at Epcot The Morocco Pavilion at Epcot, Disney World The Morocco Pavilion opened in 1984, two years after Epcot opened up in 1982. The Moroccan government took art in the design of the area, resulting in a very realistic representation of Marakesh and other cities of Morocco. There is a souk (bazaar), three eateries, a revolving exhibit and a representation of a house in Fes. Marrakesh's presence is strong with the replica of the Koutoubia mosque.
